Nuclear proliferation. A global economic slowdown. Climate change.
The world is in a state of crisis. And what is the former UN chief's greatest concern?
Our lack of global will to work together to solve them.
Former UN chief Ban Ki-moon tells me, "What really makes me concerned as a former UN Secretary-General, is how the international community is so much more divided. Multilateralism is under attack."
He goes on to say, "There are many global challenges that require a global solution. Not a single country or organization is powerful enough to address them alone. We have to work together."

Gang rape. Sexual humiliation. Even sexual slavery.
Pramila Patten, the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict, describes horrific accounts of systematic sexual violence against #Rohingya women and girls reportedly committed by the Myanmar military.
“Most of the women I spoke to reported gang rape by multiple soldiers and sexual slavery," Patten tells me.
"One woman told me how she was detained for 45 days. In many villages, women were forced to strip… Many women reported how they witnessed young girls, especially the very pretty ones, who were tied to rocks and trees and gang-raped till death. What was also very disturbing was women shared how babies were thrown into the fire while the mothers were gang-raped."
Patten goes on to say that according to the survivors and witnesses she met on her recent trip to Cox's Bazaar, the Myanmar military is behind these atrocities.
“What I can tell you is that all the accounts from the girls and women, all the sexual violence were committed by the army, the armed forces of Myanmar," she says. "This is the information that I have from the mouths of the survivors and witnesses.”
Patten says she will raise the issue of the persecution of the Rohingya to the International Criminal Court. Will Myanmar be held accountable for these atrocities?
“It’s the primary responsibility of the government to bring perpetrators to justice. It’s the national authorities that have the primary jurisdiction… So it is a court of last resort. In the case of Myanmar.. there cannot be a preliminary investigation by the ICC unless there’s a referral by the UN security council. And we have precedent. In the past we have Sudan, Darfur of 2005, or Libya in 2011, where the UN security council referred these concerns to the ICC.”
