There was nothing more shiok than soaking in this at Onsen Hot Pools, especially after running 10km in the cold.
This is the only dedicated hot pool complex in Queenstown and they were fully booked! Probably by all the runners, lol.
It's located at the bottom of Coronet Peak Ski Field, about 20-minute drive from the city centre, on a cliff side so you get this pretty view.
You have the privacy of your own room with your own pool and you can also choose to close the shutter if you want an indoor setting.
I felt so comfortable and relaxed after, time to sleep like a baby!

Woke up this morning not feeling too sore from the 10km trail run but both my little second toes are black now, lol!
The climate is not something I'm used to - how do people run in snow?! - but I actually liked it, because you don't get as hot and sticky as humid Singapore. I saw super fit women doing the marathon in just a sports bra and shorts too - respect much!
I was wearing a tshirt and tights inside, with this long sleeved NB top and a Jack Wolfskin windbreaker over, plus another pair of track pants over the tights. A bit too kiasu right?
Some people took off their jackets while running and tied it around their waist but silly me had my phone and Go Pro in my hands (yes I took pics and vids while running) and I didn't wanna stop to remove the jacket, heh.
I know one thing I want though - to do more races in such climates!

Queenstown Marathon 10km done!
This is my first ever run overseas and it was a great experience! So well-organised from race pack collection to shuttle bus service for start point to flag off - for 9,000 runners. There wasn't any congestion at all; so no tripping or having to suddenly stop/slow down behind others.
I haven't ran in over a year but decided to just give it a go anyway. The weather was 8 degrees Celsius this morning and I was so cold at the start line so I had three layers on :( I warmed quickly as I started running but I didn't want to carry too many things so I left all the layers on and I was so hot with all the sweat trapped inside!
Then I had my phone in one hand (forgot to bring my armband), Go Pro in the other hand, my pants were slipping, my toes were jamming into my shoes, I could feel holes in my socks, my earphones kept slipping out.. but I just wanted to finish the run.
It was a trail race across the Queenstown and Frankton trails and I had the wrong shoes, but the views along the lake were so pretty it helped to take my mind off the discomfort.
Considering I haven't been running and didn't train for this, I'm pleased with my time of 60 minutes flat (1:00:11 to be exact). I'll take it!
There's something about running overseas which I discovered today - this won't be my last for sure!
