Henry Chung is the premier blues harmonica player and bandleader in Hong Kong (HK) and all of Asia. Chung was rated “one of Washington’s top jazz and blues musicians” by Washington Post in 2006, after having performed with Grammy winners Pinetop Perkins, Joe Louis Walker, Tab Benoit, Bob Margolin (Muddy Waters’ lead guitarist), and ukulele player Jake Shimabukuro. In 2004, Chung was officially inducted in the “Harmonica Hall of Fame” in the USA. After returning to HK in 2006, his performances with W.C. Handy nominee Mitch Woods and HK’s No. 1 jazz guitarist Eugene Pao earned him “one of the greatest performances of 2007” cited by South China Morning Post and inducted him into the “Who’s Who of HK Music Industry”. In 2008, Chung was voted one of the top 40 HK musicians by TimeOut HK Magazine. In May 2008, he was invited by singer-songwriter Lowell Lo to perform as a special guest in his comeback concert in the HK Coliseum. Chung has recorded harmonica parts for George Lam, Andy Lau, Eason Chan, Hacken Lee, Anthony Wong, and at17 whose songs reached top spots on the local charts. From April to July 2008, Chung was also invited by RTHK Radio 4 to host the programme “Jazzing Up”. In July 2009, Chung released a Canto-Gospel-Blues album called “The Chimes” to a smashing success. It was rated the best 800 audiophile CDs by “The CD Bible” and it was the 10 Bestselling Jazz Albums at HMV in 2009. In July 2014, Chung released an album called “Edge” which received critical acclaim. Their title song “The Anti-Establishment Blues” received the top prizes 2015 CASH Golden Sail Awards, including Best Song of the Year, Best Lyrics, and Best Vocal Collaboration.
