So the boy fell into a bush while scooting today and suffered a deep cut on his forehead and some minor ones near his eye and on his knee. It was his worst fall yet and it happened because I asked the hubby to take him out to buy breakfast.
You know, it's so easy for us as parents to fall into the trap of playing the blame game. He could fault me for tasking him to take him to scoot while I stayed home and I could chide him for being careless and not keeping an eye on him. It goes on and on. But we both knew no one wanted it to happen and accidents are called as such because no one can foresee how or when they will happen. The important is to attend to him, make sure he is okay and that we all learn a lesson after.
We had planned to go Wild Wild Wet for the day and seeing his cuts, the hubby asked if we should cancel our plans. In the end, we decided to go ahead because he seemed to be in a happy mood and said he would like to go and play in the water. And so we did.
The weather was scorching, it was super duper hot when we arrived at noon but we still stayed for nearly six hours under the bright sun. I had to keep my phone after 15mins because our waterproof pouch was spoilt and I think that was the best thing that happened today because it meant we didn't think about taking pictures or answering messages but focused solely on being with the kids for nearly the entire time. I don't think it's so much about going on the most thrilling rides that you usually do alone, but more about making even the simplest ones count because you are together. Surprisingly, we played at the fountain for over half an hour, just filling up cups and see how our goggles somersault when the water spouts. It's all about experiencing these moments and making memories, right?
Glad to see your big smiles, my dear. And oh, u had another fall during dinner when you lost your balance on a bench and bit your tongue, hurt ur gums and bled aplenty. Aiyo. Unlucky day for you but like Papa and I said, it's 不幸中的大幸 because it could have been worse if you had hit your eyes or head. So yup, recover from your wounds soon but meantime, let's continue to play and be careful, okay?
